MINISTRIES
At Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, ministry is at the heart of who we are. Our church family is dedicated to serving both our congregation and the wider community through meaningful programs that nurture faith, foster connection, and extend compassion. From vibrant worship and music to hands-on outreach, education, and care, each ministry reflects our commitment to living out Christ’s love in tangible ways. Whether you’re seeking opportunities to grow spiritually, share your gifts, or make a difference, there’s a place for you in our ministries.
Music
Director: Tina Kneisler
The Kirk is blessed with talented singers, musicians, and exceptional organ and piano. Guest musicians from the community are invited to perform with the choir for special services and in the summer when the choir is on vacation. Special concerts by the choir and musical ensembles from the Kirk and the community are presented throughout the year.

Mission
Moderator: Richard McPheters
Thanks to the generosity of our members and in witness to Christ’s love we provide financial assistance, food, and other tangible items to many local agencies supporting the poor, the homeless, and others in need. Kirk volunteers also provide hands on assistance to many local and regional ministries.
Presbyterian Women
Director: Becky Wakefield
Presbyterian Women Circles join together for Bible study and fellowship, raise funds and contribute to international, national and local community missions, and provide Christmas baskets with food, clothing and toys to local needy families.

Congregational Care
Moderator: Susan Pendergrass
Our staff and volunteers are committed to helping our own members deal with aging and the difficulties of life. Volunteers give rides to doctor appointments, check on members who are recovering from illness and hospital stays, comfort families after the death of a loved one, and provide much needed respite for caregivers. Prayer Tree volunteers pray for members and their families on request. The full commercial kitchen in Bailey Hall is used to prepare meals for homebound members of our church.
Christian Education
Moderator: Donna Toney
The Kirk offers opportunities for growth and study with Bible and book studies and discussion groups led by Pastor Hyde and other experienced teachers. Other opportunities include mid-week Lunch & Learn Programs featuring presentations by guest speakers. The Fran Brown Library has more than 2,000 titles ranging from spiritual life, prayer and theology to biography, fiction and poetry.

Memorial Garden
Dedicated in 1996, the Kirk’s award-winning Memorial Garden offers solitude for quiet reflection and a lovely columbarium. The marble Celtic cross, added in 2005, represents our Presbyterian Scottish heritage.
Fellowship
Moderator:
At the Kirk fellowship takes many forms. Frequent church family potlucks, catered meals and after worship coffee hour are occasions for gathering and sharing Christ’s love. Shepherd Groups share meals, recreation, and outings to regional attractions.

Member Outreach
Moderator: Wendy Gage
The Kirk is blessed with a warm friendly congregation known for welcoming new visitors and new members. Member Outreach works to welcome and follow-up with visitors who have visited the Kirk. For those who become members, Member Outreach provides help with the transition from visitor to member through sponsoring a “New Member Class.” We also assist in maintaining an accurate list of members and friends of the Kirk.
